How GCNCC Was Started in 1997.

The Gold Coast North Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1997 in Paradise Point and incorporated in 1998.

Local businesses at the time felt their concerns were being ignored by all levels of government. They concluded that formalised representation was required to act on behalf of local businesses.

Local businessmen lead by John Wright, Ray Smith and David Mattner approached businesses in the surrounding areas incorporating Oxenford, Hope Island, Sanctuary Cove, Paradise Point, Runaway Bay, Biggera Waters, Arundel and Helensvale with the idea of forming a Chamber of Commerce where a united force would be established.

A steering committee was formed, and with a diligent effort established the Gold Coast North Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc. The incorporation was approved by the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland (CCIQ).
